Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Moniq app for iOS and Android ("the App"), made by VGX ("we", "us"). By using the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
The App
Moniq is a travel-money toolkit: a currency converter, a tip calculator, a trip expense and budget tracker, group cost splitting with balances and settlements, receipt scanning, and a map of the countries you have visited. Most of it works offline, and none of it requires an account.
Your content
Everything you enter — trips, expenses, people, budgets, notes, scanned receipts — is yours and stays on your device (see the Privacy Policy). We do not host it, so we cannot recover it: keep your phone backed up with Apple or Google if the data matters to you.
Free tier and Moniq Premium
The core of Moniq is free: converting, tip and bill splitting, trips, budgets, group balances, the World map, and a number of receipt scans. Moniq Premium is an optional auto-renewable subscription that unlocks more, currently unlimited receipt scans and splitting a bill with up to 20 people. What Premium includes may grow or change over time; the App always shows the current list before you buy.
- Plans. Premium is offered as an annual plan and a monthly plan. Prices are shown in the App in your store's local currency (US $17.99 per year and US $2.99 per month at launch) and are set and billed by Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us.
- Free trial. The annual plan may include a free trial (7 days at launch) for eligible new subscribers. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the subscription starts and your store account is charged the annual price.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends. Your store account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Cancelling. You manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings, not inside the App. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the paid period.
- Price changes. If a price changes, the store will notify you and, where required, ask for your consent before charging the new price.
Restoring purchases
Reinstalled the App or got a new phone? Use Restore Purchases on the Premium screen while signed in to the same App Store or Google Play account. Premium is tied to that store account, not to a Moniq account — there is no Moniq account.
Refunds
Purchases are made through Apple or Google, and refunds are handled by them under their own policies. Request a refund through Apple's Report a Problem or Google Play's refund process. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Rates, weather and scanned data
Exchange rates come from third-party sources, are refreshed when the App has a connection, and may be delayed, rounded or cached while you are offline. They are provided for information and are not financial advice; the rate your bank or exchange office gives you will differ. Tip amounts, splits and settlements are calculated from what you enter. Receipt scanning reads text with on-device recognition and can misread a figure. Check amounts before you pay or settle.
Acceptable use
Do not use the App for anything unlawful, do not attempt to circumvent Premium, and do not reverse engineer or tamper with the App beyond what applicable law permits.
No warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the App is limited to the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including money lost because a rate, split or scanned amount was wrong.
Changes
We may update these Terms. If we do, we will update the effective date at the top and, for material changes, note them in the App's release notes. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the new Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which the developer is resident, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory laws of your own country.
